Safety Policy

This document has been prepared to define the way that this company intends to manage health and safety and to meet the requirements of the C.D.M. Regulations 2007 plus the Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP) 1995, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 as a whole, Sections 2, 3 and 6 in particular.

It is this company's intention that its work will be carried out in accordance with all relevant statutory provisions and other requirements. All reasonably practicable measures will be taken to minimise risk and prevent injury and ill health to company employees or others who may be affected. The company is committed to undertaking monitoring and surveillance as required to ensure this aim is achieved.

Management and Supervisory staff are responsible for implementing the company safety action plan throughout and must ensure that health and safety considerations are always given priority in planning and day to day supervision of work.

All employees and sub contractors are expected to co-operate with the company in carrying out this plan and must ensure that their own work, so far as is reasonably practicable, is carried out without risk to themselves or others.

The company have appointed Mr D. Faulds, Group Safety, Health and Environmental Director, as having particular responsibility for health, safety and welfare and to whom reference should be made in the event of any difficulty arising in the implementation of this plan. The Safety Director reports to the Managing Director.

The operation of the plan will be monitored by the management and staff of the company. The Safety Manager will assist them in this respect by giving advice on the requirements of the relevant statutory provisions, the setting up of safety management systems and safety matters generally, by providing information and training and auditing compliance.

The board of directors will endeavour to achieve best practice by ensuring continuous improvement through auditing, inspections and regular discussions in the form of meetings, and the monitoring of the Incident and Injury Free programme.

This policy, alongside the safety management system is subject to continuous monitoring & review to ensure continued suitability.

This policy is actively promoted within the company & is freely available to all interested external parties.
