The company recognises that our activities have the potential to impact on the environment now and in the future and we understand that effective management of our environmental aspects is of prime importance to the sustained success of our business.
Environmental Management System
PCH have developed and implemented an environmental
management system that is certified to ISO 14001, Achilles
and SPECC.
Compliance with Legal & Other Requirements
We are committed to complying with legal and other requirements,
adopting good working practices and pursuing best
practice.
Prevention of Pollution
PCH are dedicated to the prevention of pollution through
carefully controlling works with potentially negative environmental
impacts.
Continual Improvement
PCH are committed to achieving continual improvement
through regularly assessing our environmental performance
and setting targets and objectives to improve upon it.
Monitoring & Review
We regularly assess our performance through internal audit
and respond to non-conformities against our procedures and
ensure lessons are learnt.
Responsible Sourcing & Suppliers
PCH will avoid procurement of timber from the following
sources:
1. Wood harvested from forest areas where traditional or civil
rights are violated;
2. Wood harvested from non-certified forest areas having high
conservation values which are threatened;
3. Wood harvested from genetically modified trees;
4. Illegally harvested wood;
5. Natural forest that has been converted to plantations or
non-forest use.
To achieve this, PCH will endeavour to procure timber only
from certified schemes with preference given to FSC & PEFC
Certified Wood.
As a FSC & PEFC Chain of Custody certified organisation,
PCH are committed to ongoing compliance with the standards
set by FSC & PEFC
PCH will endeavour to procure our ready mixed concrete and
reinforcement from companies certified to ISO 14001, BES
6001 or Eco-Reinforcement.
Environmental & sustainability factors will be given due prominence
in the selection of materials and suppliers.
Waste Management & Resource Efficiency
PCH employ the waste hierarchy throughout the business,
seeking to prevent waste through careful planning, ordering,
storage and use, then re-using materials wherever possible
and finally sending all residual waste to waste transfer stations
with high recycling rates.
It is company policy that no excavated material will be sent to
landfill for disposal.
Employees are tasked with minimising the consumption of
fuel, energy and water throughout the company.
Communication
This policy is actively promoted to those working for the company
and is freely available to all interested external parties
via the PCH website.

This policy, alongside all environmental documentation &
processes is subject to continuous monitoring & review to
ensure continued suitability.
