Health & Safety
We are totally committed to the effective management of health and safety within our business - our policies and positive actions are evidence of our commitment. We are now approaching the fifth year of our Incident & Injury Free (IIF) programme which is regularly reviewed and refreshed.
Maximum delivery at minimum risk
We understand that we are ultimately judged on the way we care for the safety and health of our staff, third parties, customers and the public - coupled directly to the measures we take to manage the environment positively.
We will apply the necessary resource to not only meet our legal commitments, but to drive continuous improvement in these areas through the effective setting of objectives and targets, linked directly to effective training.
We understand that communications are not one way and that even listening to feedback from our staff, clients, suppliers and the public is not enough. Only by striving to achieve a culture of learning from what we see and hear will we maintain our mission of Maximum Delivery at Minimum Risk.
Environment
Minimising impact on the environment
We acknowledge that our activities can impact negatively on the environment and have committed to minimising these impacts. In addition, we recognise that sound environmental management plays an increasingly important role in all aspects of our work.
By the end of 2007, we hope to secure IS0 14001, however, our aim is not just legal compliance, but to minimise our impact on the environment through best practice.
By reviewing policy, visiting sites and consulting with clients, we are totally revamping the Company’s Environmental Management System with the aim of providing clear, simple methods of maximising environmental protection throughout the Company. The system is being developed in line with the ISO 14001 standard and we will be seeking certification by the end of 2007.
As each of our sites has its own unique environmental characteristics, individual Site Environmental Management Plans are drafted. Making plans site-specific ensures that the environmental aspects of our work on that site are identified and controlled in the best way possible for that particular site, implementing best practice in all cases.
Quality Management Systems
Organisation for Quality
Our Quality Management System is primarily focused on achieving customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements through the application of the system, the continual improvement of the system and the prevention of non-conformity. It covers all areas of our operations and is designed to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Documented procedures and plans support our Quality Systems and a clear organisational structure, detailing responsibilities for key personnel, is incorporated in our Quality Manual and Project Quality Plans. All staff are aware of the requirements through acceptance of the policy and by continuous training, awareness and monitoring of the System.
Customer requirements are fully reviewed to ensure that confidence and satisfaction are achieved and maintained throughout the duration of each contract. Procedures have been developed to ensure feedback, thus promoting a culture of continual improvement. Customer feedback is monitored and reviewed through our Management Review Process, at defined intervals, to identify areas where improvement can be achieved within the Quality Management System. Appropriate procedures are then developed to integrate these findings within the scope of the works.
A programme of scheduled and random internal audits - conducted to guidelines set by the Chartered Quality Institute - help us to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of our Quality Management Systems.
