We are promoting the use of bonded post tensioning in the design of slabs and formed, in December 2001, Structural Systems (UK) Ltd. This is a joint venture company owned by both P.C. Harrington and Structural Systems Ltd, Australia's largest post-tensioned company, to design and install bonded post tensioning systems. P.C. Harrington are also responsible for the resurgence of the Slipform method of concrete core construction. We acquired the Slipform operation from RMD in June 2001 and formed Slipform International. We have overturned previously accepted wisdom and successfully completed the UK’s largest concrete core at Barclays Bank new headquarters in Canary Wharf. We appreciate that an integrated approach is essential to solving the industry’s challenges and we acquired Hewden Tower Cranes in September 2002 and formed HTC Plant Ltd. It is the UK’s market leading provider of tower cranes for hire, with a fleet of over 200 luffing jib and saddle jib tower cranes. Their technical support staff, in close liaison with our site teams combine to resolve the logistic challenges we meet. We embrace the industry's demands for greater health and safety and are winners of the ROSPA Gold Award. We have been previously voted Overall Winners of the Concrete Society's Awards for achieving excellence in the use of concrete and our commitment to best practise has resulted in 80% of our current workload being negotiated or won with our partners in the industry. |
